About Radio Cardiff Young Carer's
RCYS 'Radio Cardiff Young Carer's Show' is a project Executive Producer Annika Nation-Reid approached Shan Parfitt of Cardiff & Vale Cross Roads Care; another project funded through the National Lottery to support young carer's in alleviating the stressors faced when caring for a person with disabilities, enabling young people to participate in social activities with their peers, who are also young carers all sharing common interests. Annika presented the show proposal to John Lenny Jnr Radio Cardiff Director who jumped at the chance to promote awareness of issues surrounding young carers and the persons they support through a light hearted entertainment show. John Lenny Jnr regularly supports training incentives within the community supporting young people from all walks of life in empowering themselves to be the best they can whilst working to improve their self esteem through music therapy.
Training commenced in October 2011 with Radio Cardiff Award Winner Jake Goddard (Presenter/Producer/Editor) and Jane Morris News Reader. The young carer's learned how to research a show, script write, presenting/interviewing skills, how to record a show, and produce.
The RCYCS were invited to BBC Radio Wales and interviewed by Roy Noble where CJ and Becki discussed various issues surrounding young carers and the people they care for.
